Commander, Come Closer: Bringing Haichou to Life Through Ninghe
“You're here? Come closer. Let me remember... your scent.”
That login line from Haichou gave this shoot a clear starting point: the Commander opens the door, and she is already waiting in the room. She does not hurry to stand or explain herself. She simply looks at you and asks you to come a little closer.
A round window, a screen, and a wooden chair create a space of their own. We wanted to place the person you know from the game here, so you recognize her at first sight yet feel, as you approach, that this encounter is different from seeing her on a screen.

This shoot recreates Haichou's official default character art. Her long blue-black hair, brown eyes, twin buns, floral ornaments, gold details, and clothing silhouette were all arranged around that illustration.
Ninghe was chosen for the role first of all because of her face.
Ninghe's eyes and brows can look cool and reserved, then alluring from another angle. That is close to the Haichou we wanted to photograph: a perfumer who remains composed while observing the Commander and knows how to make an ordinary sentence impossible to ignore. In her official dialogue, she often uses scent to talk about feelings and the distance between two people. That direct but probing way of speaking became the rhythm of their encounter in the room.

In practice, the hair, eyes, and clothing had to be adjusted together.
Move the hair ornaments slightly higher or lower and the outline of the twin buns changes. Let the long hair fall across the chest and it hides the original lines of the outfit; sweep it too far aside and the character loses some of her layers. The blue sleeve gauze also had to be arranged for each pose, preserving its drape while keeping the shoulders, waistline, and gestures visible.
We aimed to stay as close as possible to the character art, but its lines had to find new positions on a physical body. An outfit that works while standing may look different when seated. Every pose change called for another check of how the clothes fit, where the hair fell, and where the accessories sat.

The choice of body was part of the recreation too.
This shoot uses the UNEEDOLL-163 skin-textured silicone body with an I-cup bust. Its measurements—91 at the bust, 58 at the waist, and 100 at the hips—give the fitted outfit a clear change from chest to waist and support the full silhouette of Haichou's character art.
The pose had to be refined again on the wooden chair. The backrest, armrests, and position of the legs shift the body's center of gravity. Sit too upright and she looks restrained; relax too much and Haichou's composure disappears. We wanted her to sit comfortably while already holding the Commander's attention.

Their interaction in the room begins with a look.
At first she stands by the round window, keeping a little distance from you. Once seated in the wooden chair, her body relaxes, her fingers rest beside her face, and her eyes still meet yours. She needs no elaborate series of actions. A slight turn of the head or a glance back recalls the perfumer from the game who is always observing the Commander.
We want readers to imagine themselves in that position: you have entered her room. The hair ornaments, long hair, and outfit before you are familiar, yet this is the first time she has been so close.
The movable mouth gives us a little more room to shape her expression in close-ups.
This soft silicone head sculpt has a movable jaw, a realistic oral cavity, and an oral channel. For this shoot, what mattered most was how the jaw and lips affect her expression. With her lips closed, her face looks calmer; when they part slightly, combined with the angle of her head and her gaze, it is as if she has stopped halfway through a sentence and is waiting for the Commander to answer.
The change need not be large. Haichou already knows how to hold just the right distance; a slight adjustment of the mouth gives the pause in a close-up somewhere to settle.
In the second half, the camera moves closer and the clothing is adjusted.
The long hair, floral ornaments, and blue sleeve gauze remain in the frame, so Haichou stays recognizable. As her body's outline comes more directly into view, the scene feels more intimate. At first you were checking how closely she matched the character art; now you begin to imagine what it would be like to sit beside her.
This is the journey “from the game into reality” that we wanted to create. The familiar styling lets you recognize her first. Her gaze, posture, and adjustable expression then bring the encounter right before your eyes.

The light beyond the round window remains, and the screen is still where it was. Haichou leans against the chair and looks up at you, as though she had known all along that you would stay.
You take one step closer.
This time, there is no screen between you.
