Daytime belongs to work, commuting, and messages that never stop.

Only when the door closes and the room grows quiet does time belong to you again. This is where Mizuki's story begins.

She is a 59 cm adult-oriented anime-style mini silicone doll with a net weight of 3.4 kg. We did not try to make her the center of attention during the day. Instead, we wanted her to become a quiet, familiar presence with a touch of fantasy after nightfall.

Her name belongs to midnight.

Her story is called——Midnight Memories.

It Began with a Question About Weight

When Companionship Itself Becomes Too Heavy

Traditional silicone dolls can provide a complete form and tactile experience, but their weight can also become part of that experience.

Moving, positioning, and arranging them all require extra effort, however simple each action may seem. After a full day of work in particular, the last thing people may want is another heavy burden.

Mizuki began with this very issue, repeatedly raised by doll enthusiasts.

We began to wonder: if we reduced the overall size while retaining the silicone material and a complete anime-style character design, could she fit more naturally into everyday spaces?

59 cm: A Deliberate Trade-Off

Mizuki uses the J59 body. She stands 59 cm tall and weighs 3.4 kg net.

This size is not simply a proportionally scaled-down version of a traditional product. Once the overall design becomes more compact, the head-to-body ratio, bust-waist-hip contours, limb lengths, and clothing proportions all need to be reworked.

What we wanted to preserve was her completeness as a character. What we wanted to reduce was the distance that weight creates in everyday use. We did so without compromising softness or flexibility, balancing practicality with convenience.

Why “Midnight Memories”?

Midnight Marks the Boundary Between Daytime and Private Time

Midnight Memories was not inspired by some distant fantasy world, but by an ordinary moment in life:

You finish work, return home, close the door, and the sounds outside gradually fade away.

Night makes the room quiet and, for a while, frees you from having to respond to the outside world. To us, a “midnight companion” is not an exaggerated promise, but a character concept built around private time.

Mizuki will not solve everything that happened during the day.

She simply remains in the room, bringing a little more companionship to the night.

Between Deep Blue and Warm Light

Deep blue is the main environmental color of this theme. Moonlight beyond the window, blurred city lights in the distance, and warm light inside the room all share the same frame.

The cool tones convey the quiet of midnight, while the warm light preserves the room's sense of warmth.

Mizuki stands between these two kinds of light. She carries the fantasy of an anime-style character without leaving the familiar reality of a bedroom.

“Midnight Memories” is therefore not an isolated title, but the starting point of the entire visual narrative.

The Design Behind the Knit Sweater and Short Skirt

Clothing Is Not an Accessory, but Part of the Character's Silhouette

From the outset, Mizuki's outfit was chosen to support the concept of a “midnight companion.”

The light-colored knit sweater has a soft, homelike texture. It does not create the distance of formal clothing, nor does it use complicated embellishments that distract the eye. The black short skirt forms a clean, dark boundary, creating a clear visual division from the light top.

The combination makes her look as though she has already settled into the room, rather than just stepped off a stage.

Soft Materials and Defined Proportions

Mizuki has a 33 cm upper bust, a 20.3 cm waist, and 40 cm hips.

The knit fabric creates a soft texture along the upper body, while the black short skirt defines the contours between the waist and hips. Light and dark, soft texture and clean lines, all come together in one look.

The outfit does not try to hide her anime-style proportions. On the contrary, it makes the transitions between bust, waist, and hips easier to see, preserving a distinctive character silhouette even at mini size.

Mini Size Does Not Mean a Smaller Presence

Reworking Character Proportions Within 59 cm

When a product becomes smaller, the real design challenge is not “making it smaller,” but deciding what must remain.

Mizuki retains her long black hair, teal eyes, and distinctly anime-style bust-waist-hip silhouette. A shoulder width of 12.4 cm and leg length of 30 cm maintain a clear structural relationship between her upper and lower body within the 59 cm height.

She may be mini-sized, but she should not look like a scaled-down model stripped of its personality.

Material and Touch

Keeping Silicone Means Preserving the Complete Experience

Mizuki is made of silicone. Even with her reduced overall size, we wanted her to retain a complete expression of form, rather than be defined only by the label of lightweight design.

Specific material parameters, softness, and durability tests should be demonstrated through actual data, not vague descriptions.
